Amazon India, TVS Motor Team Up to Develop Electric Mobility for Delivery

Amazon India and TVS Motor have joined hands to strengthen electricity mobility in the country, the companies said in a joint statement on Wednesday. As part of the partnership, a number of electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers from TVS Motor will be distributed for last-mile delivery to Amazon. In addition, the two companies will work together to test EV use cases for Amazon’s various business groups for their network and logistics needs, the statement said.

To test the solutions, the two companies will test TVS Motor’s electric vehicle solutions through partner base and delivery partners across India.

“TVS Motor is ready with two-wheeler and three-wheeler electric product options for B2B (business-to-business) and connected service ecosystem and other ownership. We are delighted to partner with Amazon India, which marks a milestone in our journey, and contribute to our shared goals of electrifying their mobility services,” said TVS Motor Company Executive Vice President Future Mobility Manu Saxena.

Amazon India Director-Customer Fulfillment, Supply Chain and Global Specialty Fulfillment, Abhinav Singh said the partnership marks another decisive step for the company to achieve its goal of becoming net-zero carbon by 2040.

“Electrification is an important aspect of our business, and we are committed to transforming our transportation network to better serve our customers,” he added.

The partnership strengthens Amazon India’s delivery network by adding electric two- and three-wheelers to the existing fleet, Singh said.

“This will support our supply chain by reducing the environmental impact of our operations and contribute to Amazon India’s goal of installing 10,000 EVs in our fleet by 2025,” he added.

In 2020, Amazon India announced that it will install 10,000 EVs in its delivery fleet by 2025.
