Apple is Reportedly Working on a Better Battery Saving Mode for watchOS 9
Apple is reportedly working to introduce a true power-saving mode for eligible Apple Watch models in the upcoming watchOS 9 update, extending the watch’s battery life when needed. According to the report, this mode can be activated manually through the Control Center or the Settings app. It also notifies the user when the battery level is at 10 percent. The automatic battery saver mode is also said to turn itself off when the wearable device is charged to 80 percent.
according to a reports Via ITHome, Apple is working on a proper battery-saving mode for the Apple Watch with the upcoming watchOS 9 update. This feature is said to disable the most demanding features such as the always-on display (AoD), heart rate notifications, arrhythmia tracking, heart rate and blood pressure measurements. Exercise reminders are also disabled.
Interestingly, if there is no iPhone connected to the watch nearby, it will turn off Wi-Fi and mobile connection. Incoming calls and notifications have also been disabled, according to the report.
If the user needs a specific app that requires data or a Wi-Fi connection, the system will reportedly be able to re-enable it. And if the Apple Watch stays within communication range of the phone, it will postpone notifications and deliver them every hour.
Meanwhile, the watch’s overall performance in the new battery-saving mode will also be reduced, so overall animations and navigation won’t feel as smooth, according to the report. Apple has yet to announce any plans to release a proper battery-saving mode for supported Apple Watch models.
Last month, watchOS 9.1 was introduced to users with Apple Watch Series 4) and newer models. According to the Cupertino company, this update has brought improved battery life to users with Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch SE (second generation) and Apple Watch Ultra, during Outdoor Travel, Running, and Walking. The company will also allow users to download Apple Music content while the watch is not charging, and over cellular data, according to the release notes of the latest update.
