Apple May Have Plans to Launch an Affordable Pencil: Report
Apple has reportedly been working on offering its users an affordable pencil, codenamed Marker. However, development is now said to be on hold as the Cupertino-based tech giant has canceled all plans to release the Apple Pencil, although they were reportedly preparing for a September 2023 launch at the iPhone maker’s annual event. The suggested Apple Pencil could have come with a USB Type-C charging port, as well as a lightning cable. The company has not yet made any announcements about such a product.
According to a post on the Chinese website Weibo, first in spotsApple has been working on introducing an affordable Apple Pencil, which features iPhone compatibility while also supporting charging via a USB Type-C port. Meanwhile, the current Apple Pencil is charged via a Lightning cable where the company’s affordable iPad Wi-Fi now uses USB Type-C port, making the iPad an investment of $9 (roughly Rs. 750) to buy another dongle.
Unfortunately, Apple has reportedly canceled all plans to launch the product, which is said to be launched next year. According to the report, Apple’s planned $50 (roughly Rs. 4,100) version of the Apple Pencil was codenamed Marker. Apple’s affordable Pencil apparently could cut corners by removing features like pressure-sensing technology and a built-in battery, according to a report. The iPhone maker has chosen to create a chip that will be used to power the stylus with a connected screen, similar to the technology seen in Samsung’s S-Pen models.
However, Apple is not making any official announcements about the launch or launch of the affordable Apple Pencil yet and we may have to wait until the September event next year to know if these rumors are true or not.
Apple was previously seen filing for a renewed patent that would support the Apple Pencil placed above the MacBook keyboard. Claims include the ability to store or protect the Pencil magnetically when placed in storage and to use the Pencil as an operating key while installed in the chassis. The patent, which the iPhone and Macbook maker first filed last year, envisions a Pencil instead of a row of function keys.
