Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Will Not Get New Game Mode+, Ubisoft Confirms
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla won’t be getting the much-requested New Game+ mode. In a blog post, publisher Ubisoft confirmed that their latest action-based Viking RPG is in the final stages of its content release that took two years after launch, and does not include a replay feature. The company notes that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is designed as a “unique” experience that is structurally different from its predecessors. “When investigating the use of New Game+, we realized that the depth of the game gave us limited options to make replays unique and rewarding,” it read.
On December 6th, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be receiving a final content update, which will serve as “an emotional and intimate conclusion to Eivor’s story,” tying up loose ends and closing out our time spent among the Raven Clan. Reaching the “Final Chapter” in the arc requires you to complete several important parts of the game, which you can start by upgrading the settlement to level 5 and building the Jomviking barracks. Apart from that, one needs to beat the storyline by committing to all English locations, and complete the Ragnarök-based epic story arcs of Asgard and Jotunheim. “Kill all targets of the Order of the Ancients and reveal its leader” as well in the list as a requirement.
Since its release in November 2020, the blog notes that more than 20 million players enter the world of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the third time since the franchise’s transition to the open world RPG format. As part of the final update, Ubisoft will be adding the option to keep Eivor’s hood open at all times. This beauty update will be included in the in-game options menu and will remain even when you undress. The studio also talks about “a few surprises” planned for the final update, the details of which will be revealed later.
During Ubisoft’s flagship event in September, the publisher dropped a cinematic trailer for its Baghdad-set Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Set in 2023, the title will take a retro approach, featuring a strong narrative focused on stealth, parkour, and assassination – instead of adapting to the latest RPG-driven trends. Meanwhile, Ubisoft also confirmed three new Assassin’s Creed projects: codename Red set in feudal Japan, Hexe set during the witch trials of the 16th century, and an open world mobile game.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s final update releases on December 6, across PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
