Blue India’s Twitter Rollout Could Be ‘Under A Month’: Musk
Twitter’s paid blue tick verification service is expected to be launched in India “in less than a month”, the new owner of the microblogging platform, said billionaire Elon Musk.
Earlier this month, Musk had announced that the blue verification check mark in front of the username that proves the authenticity of the account will be charged $8 (roughly Rs. 660) per month. Twitter’s strategy to introduce a monthly fee for a verified badge has divided users around the world.
Musk, CEO of electric car maker Tesla, completed his $44 billion (roughly Rs. 3.61,740 crore) takeover of Twitter at the end of October, making him the world’s richest man at the helm of the most influential social media platform. the world.
He also fired four top executives of the telecom company, including CEO Parag Agrawal and chief legal officer Vijaya Gadde.
Twitter then proceeded to lay off most of its more than 200 employees in India as part of a massive global layoff, ordered by Musk who wants to make the blockbuster work.
Now Musk has said that the release of Twitter Blue can be expected in India within a month, clearing the air when the paid service will be available in this important market.
“Hopefully, within a month,” Musk said in response to a Twitter user’s question on when the service is expected to be launched in India.
There is no official word about the price in India yet. A blue tick means that an account has been verified because it is notable in government, news, entertainment, or another designated category.
“Energy for the people! Blue for $ 8 / month,” Musk had written on Twitter on November 1, and added that the price is adjusted by the country in proportion to the purchase of the equivalent energy.
“You’ll also find: Priority in answers, mentions and searches, priority to beat spam/scam; ability to send long video and audio; multiple ad segment,” he added.
Musk said monthly payments from green tick users would give Twitter a way to earn money to reward content creators.
There will be a stamp under the name of a public figure, which has already happened to politicians, he said.
