Chup OTT Release Date: R Balki’s Direction to be aired on ZEE5 on November 25

Filmmaker R Balki’s Chup: Revenge of the Artist will have its OTT premiere on Zee5 on November 25, the broadcaster announced on Saturday.

Starring Sunny Deol, Dulquer Salmaan and Shreya Dhanwanthary, the thriller about a psychotic killer targeted the film’s critics. The film received mixed reviews from critics when it was released in theaters on September 23.

Balki said Chup, billed as a tribute to master filmmaker Guru Dutt and his 1959 classic Kaagaz Ke Phool, is a film made with the artist’s sensibility.

“Chup is a story that examines the insensitivity of an artist’s work and the flaws in how an artist reacts to such criticism. It is a film about the dangerous consequences of distorting power,” the director said in a statement.

With its world digital premiere on Zee5, the film will be available to viewers in five languages ​​- Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Another pending film on Zee5 is Madhur Bhandarkar’s India Lockdown, which is slated to release on the OTT platform on December 2.

India Lockdown consists of four parallel stories, revolving around an elderly father desperate to reach his pregnant daughter, a pilot stuck at home, a hard-working man, an unemployed prostitute and a migrant couple returning home to their village. The film depicts the trauma and travails of ordinary people during the initial lockdown following the COVID-19 pandemic.

The film was shot in February and March of 2021, just before the deadly COVID-19 Delta wave hit the country.

India Lockdown, starring Prateik Babber, Sai Tamhankar, Shweta Basu Prasad, Aahana Kumra, Satvik Bhatia and Prakash Belawadi, will have its premiere on November 21 at the International Film Festival of India in Goa.
