DigiLocker Gains Support for Maintaining Ayushman Bharat Health Records
DigiLocker has successfully completed its second level of integration with Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission and users can now store health records digitally and link them with their Ayushman Bharat Health Account. DigiLocker aims at Digital Empowerment of citizens by providing access to authentic digital documents. Documents extracted from the DigiLocker system are considered to be identical to the original documents.
Earlier DigiLocker had completed level 1 integration with ABDM where the platform added ABHA or Ayushman Bharat Health Account creation facility for its 13 crore users. The latest integration will now allow users to use DigiLocker as a Personal Health Records (PHR) app.
In addition to this, Ayushman Bharat holders can also link their health records from Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission registered health facilities like hospitals and labs and access them through DigiLocker, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in a statement on Thursday.
Users can scan and upload their old health records to the app. In addition, they can share selected records with Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission registered health professionals.
RS Sharma, CEO of the National Health Authority (NHA), said: “Under ABDM, we are building an integrated health system. system for more users and adding more functionality.”
“DigiLocker is a reliable and popular application for accessing authentic documents. Therefore, it is an important development as users will now be able to use it as a PHR application and get the benefits of paperless record keeping,” the CEO said in a statement.
Lifetime lock services are now available to all registered DigiLocker users.
