Elon Musk Takes a Dig at AOC for Twitter’s $8 Green Cash T-Shirt

Ever since Elon Musk and New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez clashed on Twitter with new Twitter owner Elon Musk, netizens have been politely using the exchange as fodder for new memes. Recently, Elon Musk took another swipe at the Congresswoman on Twitter by posting a photo of a t-shirt that read “Your feedback is appreciated, now pay $8.” Without attaching any text to the t-shirt image, Elon Musk left micro-blogging users divided.

Musk’s latest tweet comes after he posted a screenshot of the US politician’s fan t-shirt priced at $58 (roughly Rs. 4,700).

Here’s a timeline of the feud between Twitter’s new owner and a US politician:

Last week, Elon Musk announced that Twitter will charge $8 (roughly Rs. 600) as a registration fee for users who want to be verified on the microblogging site. Basically, it means that if you have a blue note, you have to pay $8 a month.

Then on November 2, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, aka AOC, tweeted: “Billionaire Mao trying to sell people on the idea that ‘freedom of speech’ is actually an $8/month subscription plan.”

In response to the AOC, Elon reiterated its stance on subscription fees, saying: “Your response is appreciated, now pay $8.”

Soon after, he shared a screenshot of the price of an Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez supporter T-shirt called AOC priced at $58 and added a ‘thinking’ emoji to it.

The AOC explained the values in a tweet, “is proud of this and will always be. My workers are unionized, earn wages, have full health care, and are not subject to discrimination in their workplaces. Things are made in the USA. The AOC team respects and honors working people. You should try it sometime instead of busting the union.”

The politician then mocked Elon Musk again by tweeting, “One guy’s $44 billion (Rs. 3,37,465 crore) business plan is apparently going to run and ask for $8 per person. Remember that next time you ask questions . you or your qualifications.”
