Google Pixel 7a Teased With Dual Camera Sensors, 90Hz Display: Report

The Pixel 7a, Google’s so-called affordable “A”-rated mid-range entry in the Pixel 7 series expected to launch in mid-2023, has been around for a while. It was previously predicted that the Google Pixel 7a will sport a triple rear camera sensor with a Samsung 50-megapixel sensor, a 64-megapixel telephoto sensor, and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide angle sensor. This would make it the first time that a telephoto sensor has arrived in the Pixel A series. However, tipster Kuba Wojciechowski, who previously revealed this information, has now suggested that Google may remove the Samsung 50-megapixel lens from the lineup.

The tipster also revealed new information about the Google Pixel 7a in terms of its display. According to a recent tip, Google may be using a 90Hz 1080p OLED panel display made by Samsung for their affordable offering. This will feature the device as having one of the best displays in the affordable segment.

Wojciechowski also confirmed his earlier tip about the processor used in the codenamed “lynx” smartphone, which is expected to be branded as the Google Pixel 7a. The tipster confirmed that Qualcomm chips are used by the search giant for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity with Google’s Tensor SoC acting as the main driver in the smartphone. It will be the first time a Tensor-powered smartphone has been paired with Qualcomm chips for connectivity, according to reports To install Android Police.

Meanwhile, the device is expected to support wireless charging which is also a first in its category. However, the wireless charging speed will be limited to 5W, according to the tip. 5W is too slow, suggesting that wireless charging support may be used by the search giant as a marketing ploy rather than a useful smartphone functionality.

Google launched the first A-series Pixel, the Google Pixel 3a), with the premise of making the flagship Pixel experience available on an affordable device using cheap materials. This is gradually offset by the company repeating what can be achieved under budget.

Google however did not confirm the specifications of the speculated smartphone.
