Jio Launches Short Video App for Creators Platform: Details
Reliance Jio, the country’s largest telecom service provider, announced the launch of Platfom, a short video platform on Thursday. The app was developed in partnership with Rolling Stone India and Creativeland Asia, and is aimed at content creators in the country including musicians, singers, actors, comedians, dancers, fashion designers, and all creators and influencers. The company plans to build an ecosystem that can support organic growth and sustainable monetization.
The launch of the app was announced with a Press release on Thursday. The service will invite 100 members to join the forum and will display a golden check mark on their profiles. New artist members will then be invited to sign up through a referral program. And they will be the first to preview new features added to the app. Creators in all categories will be able to join this service.
Platfom’s app says it follows a lifestyle, instead of “paid” algorithms, and that creators will be “certified” with silver, blue and red check marks. Ratings will be awarded based on fan growth and content engagement rather than paid promotions, according to the company.
Meanwhile, creator profiles will provide an option for fans and brands to interact, and collaborate with artists. Creators will also get an opportunity to be included in Rolling Stone India’s digital programs with premium authentication, and in-app booking.
Recently, Jio has released five new international roaming (IR) packs exclusively for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2022 which started on November 20. The plan can be used in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Users can use these IR plans by subscribing to data-only packs or as all-in-one packs that include data, SMS, and voice calls. Details of plans are available on Jio official website or MyJio app.
