Pixel 7, Pixel 6 Users Report Auto-Rotate, Tap to Wake, Other Display Bugs


Pixel 7 and Pixel 6 users have reported a number of bugs affecting key display features on Google’s smartphones. Users have taken to Reddit to share details about the issues they’ve faced with the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7. New bugs discovered in Google’s handsets over the past two years are suspected to affect features such as auto-rotation on YouTube and the tap-to-wake feature, which is said to they have stopped working on these phones.

Owners of Pixel 7 and Pixel 6 smartphones have taken to Reddit to complain that auto-rotation doesn’t work while using YouTube, requiring them to click a small box in the lower right corner of the display to watch a video in full. .screen mode.

Reddit posted by user ur/BennyBoy218 says he had to turn on auto-rotation on his Pixel 7 Pro while watching a video on YouTube. Some users in the thread mentioned that they use the ‘swipe up’ gesture on YouTube videos in portrait mode, to enter landscape mode.

One of the users wrote that the auto-rotation does not work when YouTube is minimized, adding that it only works when the video is in full-screen mode.

It’s worth noting that this bug doesn’t seem to be limited to Pixel users. Reddit user You made a comment in the post, saying that he was facing the same problem on his Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

Meanwhile, PhoneArena reports that Pixel users are also affected by a bug affecting the tap-to-wake feature. Reddit user claims that the feature only works “85-90 percent of [the] time” but that it doesn’t work or register often enough to be seen.

It was previously reported that the Pixel 6 and 6a could be unlocked even with an unregistered fingerprint, a problem that Google fixed in a later update.
