Reliance Jio to provide Full 5G Coverage for Kolkata by June 2023
Reliance Jio on Monday said large parts of the city will be covered by the telecom major’s 5G service by December this year and the work will be completed by June 2023.
High-speed data services will be launched in Siliguri soon and the north Bengal city will be the second in the state after Kolkata where the company will offer its 5G services.
The launch of 5G in Siliguri will be part of the company’s December 2023 rollout date in the country, a Reliance Jio executive said.
Earlier Airtel announced the launch of its 5G services in Kolkata and Siliguri.
Jio has launched its services in select cities and is gradually increasing the availability.
“In the state of Bengal, we will soon launch 5G in Siliguri. In Kolkata, the installation is currently being covered every day. Major parts of the city will be covered by mid-December and will be completed by June ’23,” said an official.
Jio on Monday showcased its products and services at its experience center in the city.
“Several government officials from different departments visited the experience center, including the state IT Secretary Rajeev Kumar. They wanted to understand and feel the power of the new 5G technology and how that can be used in different public functions.
“We have demonstrated solutions in agriculture, education, smart offices and advanced opportunities in mobile broadband,” he said.
Officials said that 5G technology can bring high-quality healthcare to rural and remote areas by transforming it into smart healthcare solutions such as tele radiology, connected ambulance, clinic in a bag.
