Spotify Anchor App Lets Users ‘Boost’ Podcast Recordings with One Tap

Spotify, the music and podcast streaming service, is rolling out a dedicated ‘Upgrade’ button for voice recognition in its Anchor app. The feature is aimed at podcast creators, and is called ‘Audio Enhancement’. designed to improve audio quality and allow podcast creators to record with clear audio even in noisy environments. This will eliminate the need for expensive audio equipment to record clear audio or a podcast, Spotify said, adding that the feature brings the user’s voice forward by eliminating background noise.

The service announced a feature release with a blog post means that users can activate the new feature by tapping a button in the Anchor app. To improve the sound while recording in a noisy environment, you can press the ‘Enhance’ button to improve the sound quality.

The Anchor app will let you toggle the feature on and off during playback, according to Spotify. You can compare the results if you record it with the feature disabled and enabled on the same track.

Spotify is not the first company to introduce a voice recognition feature – services such as Google Meet and Zoom also offer similar features using AI to distinguish voices without expensive microphones. These features come in handy when taking meetings in crowded places.

According to Spotify, Anchor users worldwide can now access the Sound Enhancement feature on Android and iOS for free. You can upgrade to the latest version of the app and tap the magic wand icon in the corner of the screen to enable the feature while recording, and turn it on and off as needed.
