Twitter to Add Support for Sharing Long Form Articles, Monetizing Content


Elon Musk’s recently acquired micro-blogging platform Twitter has announced that the app will soon allow users to add long text to their tweets. Speaking on Twitter, Musk said, “Twitter will soon add the ability to attach long text to tweets, eliminating the silliness of notepad screenshots.”

He also added that this will be followed by monetization of creators across all types of content.

In another cryptic tweet, Elon Musk took Twitter’s search feature and said it will be better in the future.

“Searching within Twitter reminds me of Infoseek in ’98! That will get better pronto,” added Musk.

Earlier, Twitter updated its iOS app for Apple iPhone users, including a new $7.99 (roughly Rs. 660) per month blue subscription.

In the Apple App Store, Twitter writes, “Get Twitter Blue for USD 7.99/month when you sign up now Blue checkmark: Power to people: Your account will get a blue checkmark, like celebrities, companies, and politicians already count. follow.”

Shortly after the news broke, Esther Crawford, product manager at the microblogging site said that the new blue “isn’t available yet”.

“The new Blue isn’t live yet – the launch runner is still in progress but some people may see us making updates because we’re testing and making changes in real time. The Twitter team is legendary. Blue Blue… coming soon!” he tweeted.

Twitter also said that some of the features are not yet available in the app but will be added soon.

“Coming soon… Half ads & even better: As you support Twitter in the fight against bots, we’ll reward you with half ads and make them twice as valuable.”

“Post long videos: You’ll finally be able to post long videos on Twitter. *Higher quality content ranking: Your content will get a higher ranking in replies, mentions and searches. This helps reduce the visibility of scams, spam, and bots…” writes i -Twitter in the Apple app store.

Twitter Blue with Verification is currently available on iOS in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.

On Tuesday, Musk confirmed the reports and announced that the company will charge $8 (roughly Rs. 66) per month for Twitter’s subscription service with an emphasis on replies, mentions, and searches.

“Twitter’s current lords & peasants system of who has a blue badge or not is stupid. Power to the people! Blue for USD 8/month,” he tweeted.
