Vir Das’ Next Netflix Stand-Up Special Will Release in December
Vir Das’ latest comedy special is headed to Netflix on December 26. First spotted on the platform’s international list and confirmed by Gadgets 360 via Netflix’s website, the upcoming special, “Vir Das: Landing,” sees the acclaimed comedian in conversation. deep in his childhood in India, “the perils of anger, and finding his feet in the world.” This marks his fourth stand-up special for Netflix, apart from 2020’s Outside the Box, where he created an online show for viewers at home, during the shutdown of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her new collaboration with Netflix comes after a nearly two-year hiatus, during which she starred in Judd Apatow’s The Bubble.
Das began his relationship with Netflix in 2017, with his special Abroad Understanding, which dealt with themes of nationalism, global engagement and politics in two separate performances in New York and New Delhi.
The stand-up marked the first time an Indian comedian was featured on the platform’s elite list, continuing the trend of cultural comparisons with the West. His other two major specials, Losing it and India’s Vir Das, were released in 2018 and 2020, respectively.
Earlier this month, Das’s Bengaluru show was reportedly canceled as a result demonstrations accusing him of portraying India in a “bad light”. We brothers. The live show was originally scheduled for November 20, but has not been rescheduled since then.
Vir Das: The Landing drops December 26 on Netflix. It will be the second Indian stand-up special on Netflix in 2022, following Kapil Sharma: I’m Not Done Yet in January.
