WhatsApp Contact Cards Sharing Out of Windows Beta App: Report
WhatsApp, the instant messaging app owned by Meta, is reportedly testing a new feature that will allow users to share contact cards in a chat on the Windows desktop app. After adding the ability to create polls within chat sharing pages, the instant messaging app is now working on this new feature as seen in the Windows beta 2.2247.2.0 update. Eligible users can download the latest beta version of the app from the Microsoft Store. The messaging app seems intent on bringing new features to the Windows desktop client.
according to a reports With the WhatsApp beta tracker, WABetaInfo, WhatsApp users using the Windows desktop client will be able to share a contact card within a chat allowing the recipient to easily add it to their address book. The report also shared a screenshot of the feature, which shows a new “Contact” option in the Share list.
WhatsApp users with a Windows desktop client will have to click on the option to share a contact card, such as a message. The feature is likely to be rolled out to more beta testers in the coming days.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp also introduced a new feature that will allow iOS and Android users to conduct polls in personal and group chats to get opinions or responses from their friends and contacts. Like interviews, user responses to survey questions are secured with end-to-end encryption.
Currently, Telegram and Facebook Messenger allow group voting, but now WhatsApp users can easily start using this new feature on their smartphone. It should be noted that the new survey feature is only available in the latest version of the messaging app.
WhatsApp is reportedly working on a feature that will allow Android users to send and import their offline chat backups to Google Drive. They can backup full chat history, photos, videos, and other media files. The app is likely to release this for beta testing soon.
