WhatsApp Encourages Business Users to Link Accounts to Reach More Users


WhatsApp Business has started testing a new command to ask users to link their Facebook and Instagram accounts to reach more users. Meta-owned instant messaging app is pulling WhatsApp Business beta testers to bring in new customers with an in-app banner. First, the banner is reaching a few beta testers on Android, and is expected to be rolled out to iOS testers in the coming weeks, according to the feature tracker.

According to information shared by feature tracker WABetaInfo, a new banner asking WhatsApp Business users to link their Instagram and Facebook accounts has started appearing in the latest beta version of the messaging app for Android phones.

The banners encourage users to link their Instagram and Facebook accounts to “bring in new customers” by promoting their business on both platforms.

Earlier in October, Meta reported a total advertising revenue of Rs 16,189 crore in India during the financial year. This showed a growth of 74 percent year-on-year (YoY), according to the company’s latest filing with the Registrar of Companies (RoC).

Last week, WhatsApp started rolling out the ability to support 1,024 members in its group chats, with support for video calls for 32 members. The company also started rolling out its much-anticipated Communities feature.

Back in May, the platform was also found to be working on a status response indicator that users will see when they receive responses to their status updates. However, Meta is yet to announce a release timeline for this feature, which is still under development.
