WhatsApp Is Reportedly Testing Voice Status Update for iOS Beta


WhatsApp, the instant messaging app owned by Meta, is reportedly working on a feature that will allow iOS users to share voice notes in their status updates. From now on, users can share photos, videos and links only in their WhatsApp status. However, once the new feature is rolled out, WhatsApp users on iOS will reportedly be able to share voice notes or voice clips along with their status updates on the app. According to the report, the messaging platform is testing the feature in iOS Beta for an upcoming update.

according to a reports With WhatsApp development tracker WABetaInfo, WhatsApp users on iOS will be able to share up to 30 seconds of voice note and text in their status updates, similar to what they can currently do in a WhatsApp chat.

The report also shared the same screengrab, which hints at the upcoming feature, which shows a microphone icon under the text status.

WhatsApp users on iOS will have to click on the microphone icon and record their voice to upload it as their status update. They can even add text to it, if needed. Note that voice status updates will only be shared with people selected in the privacy settings. Also, these voice notes will always be nailed to the edges.

Not only iOS, but this capability is said to be tested as well WhatsApp beta for Android future update. As of now, this feature is still under development, so it may be too early to say anything.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp recently launched WhatsApp Polls for users on both Android and iOS. The Polls feature was introduced alongside ‘communities’, a feature that allows users to have different groups under one umbrella to organize group discussions. WhatsApp Polls allows users to conduct polls within a group with the ability to vote. Facebook Messenger and Telegraph currently allow users to add group polls. The WhatsApp survey feature will be protected with end-to-end encryption.
